HEY GUYS!!!

First off, we would like to take this time to thank all our brothers and sisters in Christ who prayed for our CF. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH. Honestly, we really appreciate what God has put us through, and through this, we emerge stronger in Him. GOD REALLY ANSWERS PRAYERS!! :)

Today, the committee held a small meeting and decided to have our CF THIS FRIDAY not in school, but at the SS 18 field down the road!! :) Time will be the same and this week, we'll be celebrating FRIENDSHIP DAY!!! Since CF will be held in a field, guess what? GAMES WILL ALSO BE HELD!! :D So what are you waiting for? Grab a friend and come along!! :)

Secondly, POSTAL QUIZ IS COMING UP!!! This year, the syllabus will be a bit different. Instead of the usual 2 books in the bible, there will only be 1 book + the miracles that Jesus performed!! This year's bible texts come from the book Genesis, chapter 20-24. The miracles of Jesus are as follows:

CFSMKSU IS NOT CLOSING DOWN

Chronological order of events:

Friday 3 of February - CF was informed to meet on Saturdays

Friday 3 of February - CF was stopped in the middle of service, the service was allowed to continue on the condition of no prayers and worship(Mr. Tan farewell)

Wednesday 3 and 8 of February - CF was informed to STOP all singing, worshiping, prayer meetings in the morning, and also instruments were not allowed into the school compound.

To those who are concern, these are some of the things you can do:

1. Pray for the school authorities to give the CF back the Friday meetings.
( as there won't be any Saturday slots available for CF, for the next 2 saturdays)

2. Parents - you have every right to find out from the school HM whats her reasons of causing all this restrictions and changes.

3. Parents - be more active in the school selection of PTA / PIBG board members

4. Pastors/ church leaders/ leaders - encourage our parents to be involve in engaging the school authorities in good faith to find out what the school authorities are up to.

5. CF students continue to respond to the activities or mobilization, planned by the leadership of CFSMKSU

Reaching Out

Hey guys! How are you all doing? January 2012 is already coming to an end. Another month passing by in mere seconds. Time really is short, huh? :(

Well, as Christians, how many of us are grabbing every opportunity we can to go out and spread God's Love to others? I recently read an awesome testimony on the Revo page about a girl named Heidi Quah who studies in SMK Damansara Jaya. I'll just give a brief synopsis about the story. In her testimony, she wrote about a friend whom she knew in Form 4. This friend of hers is an atheist (someone who does not believe in the existence of God). Throughout the year, they had countless debates on religion, him questioning about her faith and her finding answers to his questions. She prayed to God to guide her and help her to convince this friend of hers. As the months go by, this friend started to open up towards the idea of an existent God through her countless attempts to invite him for various Christian events. Praise God!! :D

Truly after reading her post, I'm convinced of God's involvement and intervention in her friend's life. As I sat wondering to myself, "How many of us would actually do that? How many of us would have the courage to share Christ to people who yet know?"

As Christians, we should reach out to others. Christians are called to love others and have compassion on them rather than cut ourselves from them and stay in our own cliques. After all, Jesus didn’t cut Himself off from us — in spite of our sin and rebellion.

The Bible says Jesus left heaven’s glory and walked among us, reaching out to those who needed to know God loved them.

We are called God's ambassadors for a reason. An ambassador is someone who is chosen to represent an object or a person. We are chosen to represent God.

Remember, it only takes one person to start a fire. As long as you share His word, by His grace, he will multiply it. :) Are we all ambassadors of Christ? Are we ready to pick up our crosses and take His hand?

ON FIRE FOR GOD

Hey guys!! How are the holidays coming along?!?! What have YOU been doing for the past month? Studying? Praying? Reading the Bible? Or just playing video games?

ARE YOU READY FOR CHRISTMAS?!?!

As we all know, CHRISTMAS is a time of gifts, christmas trees, santa claus, caroling and decorations. BUT, is THAT the TRUE MEANING of CHRISTMAS? As a Christian, Christmas is a time celebrating the BIRTH OF OUR SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST! For those who attend churches or cell group, plays, shows and parties will be held in churches and cells to celebrate Christmas. TIME spent will our church members and cell leaders help to strengthen our FAITH in the Lord. During caroling practises or play rehearsals we get into the spirit of WORSHIPING and PRAISING GOD and we start doing crazy stuff, right? But, how many of us will carry on the enthusiasm to continue praising God like this? Even after these events?

Many of us have encountered this problem before, and we will continue to encounter it. We all share the same experiences, but how many of us will ACT on it? Luke chapter 14 verse 15 to 24, one of Jesus' parables states that those who make excuses will never get to taste the sweetness of the kingdom of God. Will we continue to make excuses for our mistake of losing faith? OR will we ask for forgiveness from God and learn from our mistakes? How many of us are willing to take that bold step to be ON FIRE FOR GOD?

Most of us try to find refuge by listening to Christian songs like Planetshakers or Hillsongs, but these are only temporary. That fire that those songs provide will not be able to fuel our thirst for God everyday. Sometimes, we also attend Christian events like Camp or Subang Rally, but ultimately, that will not suffice. What we need to do is to READ THE BIBLE. The bible is God's word, and God's word holds many promises that He made to us. He promised us for a place in His kingdom. As we continue to dwell deeper into His word, we learn to understand what's God's plan for us in this world. With a goal, we become more focused towards it and never lose the fire for God or even fall for temptation.

The Lord wants and needs on-fire, redhot, enthusiastic followers who love Him more than anything or anyone else on this Earth!--Disciples who are DETERMINED to follow Jesus all the way because they know they have found the TRUTH! Such fervent followers of God should all be driven by the same compelling COMPASSION which motivated the Apostles and the martyrs and virtually EVERY great man or woman of God throughout history!--In fact, it's the same irresistible motivation that should motivate EVERY child of God in EVERYTHING they do, EVERYTHING they say, EVERYWHERE they go. Regardless of what you may lack in the way of natural talents, abilities, gifts etc., if you truly YIELD your heart to the Lord and let HIM inspire you and take control of your life--obeying God's Word and letting Him live IN you and THROUGH you, so that your heart BURNS with HIS Love--then He will be able to GREATLY use you and make you a blessing to MANY!

This is a crucial decision that EVERY Christian must face: To truly GIVE and YIELD your ALL to the Lord, and be willing to be an on-fire, enthusiastic, "HOT" servant of the LIVING God!--Or to WITHHOLD yourself from the Lord, compromising and fearing to vary from the norm, afraid to be different from the rest of the sceptical World lest others look down on you or think of you as some kind of a "fanatic" or "extremist"! The Bible says, "Every man according as he purposes and decides in his HEART, so let him GIVE!"--2Corinthians 9:7.

THE TIME HAS COME. WILL YOU CONTINUE TO SERVE THE LORD WHOLE-HEARTEDLY, CARRYING HIS WILL AND BE A COMMITTED BELIEVER?

As Christians, the most fundamental basic is to live by FAITH, but what does it mean? Faith is the conviction of truth without tangible proof. That means believing in something or putting our trust in something that cannot be seen. To have faith is to BELIEVE IN GOD'S WORD before it comes to pass. The acronym for the word faith says it best: Forsaking All I Trust Him.

In Hebrews chapter 11, old testament heroes like Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Joseph and Moses were paid tribute because of their undying and unwavering faith in our Lord God Almighty. In return, God grant them STRENGTH, OBEDIENCE to God's commands, HOPE of a coming Messiah, and PATIENCE for a heavenly country.

Through faith, we are able to overcome obstacles.

Through faith, we are able to look forward to a brand new day.

Through faith, we are able to understand God's will for us in this world.

The life of a Christian is full of battles, so we must equip ourselves with the faith to trust in God. Proverbs 3:5 states that Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path. Any obstacles that we may face can be overcome if we put our faith and trust in our Lord.

Here are some ways to instill faith in our lives

1. Through prayer. Remember, God ALWAYS has time to listen to your prayers. You just have to make time for him.

2. Through the word of God. The bible holds many inspiring stories, verses and parables to help with everyday problems and obstacles. Through the bible, we are assured of the promises of the Lord for his followers.

3. Through the Church. A church is a great place to encourage outgoing and godly attributes. Volunteer in worship sessions, IT departments or even ushers. Being together with a spiritual family helps to encourage faith.

4. Sharing of testimonies. Coming together with church members or fellowship members to share testimonies is a great way to encourage others and yourself to trust more in the spiritual guidance of the Holy Spirit.

"According as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith" (Romans 12:3)

"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6)

"Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1)

"To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me" (Acts 26:18)

"For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:26)

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?" (I John 5:4-5)

During our last CF, we announced that we were going to organize an event!! Can you guess what it is?!?!

We're going to do a CHRISTMAS PRODUCTION!! yay!!~~

The date of the event will be on the 7th of January (Saturday), after the school hoildays, so make sure to attend this event!!

As we all know, the CF has never hosted a Christmas Production, so we'll need all of your help to make this event a success!! How? Well, you can VOLUNTEER YOURSELF to help out in different departments!!

HEY GUYS!!!!

CF is drawing to a CLOSE this Friday as we have our last meeting for the year.

We'll be doing something special, something we've not done yet this year, which is HIGH PRAISE - non-stop music, praise and worship to God!

Also, we're having a little Form 5s appreciation during the CF too because after this our lovely Form 5s are heading on into the SPM exams.....

The Form 4s get to join the Form 3s in freedom as their exams end this week itself!

So come and join us for our last CF 2011 this year! It's been a great year of CHANGE and we want to send it off in full swing!

Happy Deepavali!!!

The CF would like to wish all our Hindu friends a very Happy Deepavali!

Today, we also had a special CF, where four representatives from the Logos Hope Ship came to talk about their lives on the ship and share testimonies. Those four representatives hail from Germany, Switzerland, Hong Kong and our maiden land Malaysia :)

Logos Hope Ship is a ship that travels from port to port (currently docked at Port Klang till this Sunday), where their main purpose is to preach the word of God. Besides that, it claims the title as the "Largest Floating Book Store" due to its wide collection and range of books at the Book Fair in the ship.

It was definitely a different and eye opening experience to us to meet these representatives from the ship. A time of fellowship also followed after CF, where we learned more about their culture and their ours, as well as what life is like on the ship.

We thank God for giving us this rare opportunity to invite them over for CF today and we hope for them safe journey on their way to the next port, Kuching, as well as everlasting Faith in turning to God in all matters, who captains this ship and all its crew.

For the next week, there will be one week of holidays for Deepavali, so be sure to spend your time wisely and remembering God in everything you do :)

Christian Integrity

We often hear of upholding Integrity in many things we do in our lives, and amongst them when we are in the exam halls. We relate integrity to not cheating on exams, not conforming to the standards of the world around us. But what is the definition of Integrity itself?

"The concept of integrity is that of basing of one's actions on a consistent framework of principles." - Wikipedia

Notice that Wikipedia states that integrity is based on a consistent framework of principles.

But what exactly is a consistent framework of principles? And who defines them? Is it defined by our ancestors, the government or our school textbooks? Or does it mean we live in integrity by our own principles, despite whether or not they may be flawed here and there?

What does this mean for a Christian?

Simply this, our framework of principles must be based on something consistent, and the only thing that the Christian has that is consistent in every way is the Bible. The word of God is unchanging, established forever in heaven and here on earth. This is our foundation, this is where the Christian must go to gain a consistent framework of principles.

Go to the Word and in it you will find integrity, you will find He who authored it. Search the scriptures for you will find Jesus a man who is integrity personified. Aren't you glad that He is? Aren't you glad that you have a Saviour who will treat you the same way every time you approach Him because He never changes?

Christian integrity, therefore, is the strength of the practicing believer. Integrity means wholeness of character, an uncompromising adherence to a code of values, and consistency of word and deed based squarely on the word of God.

Let us cry out as king David did.

"Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee" Psalm 25:21

So uphold Integrity in your exams, and overall everything you do. Uphold the Integrity that comes from Jesus Christ :)

Hey guys!

We're deep into exam periods as the PMRs are in the midst of their papers and the SPMers, just finishing trials, are also busy preparing for their final exam of the year. The other forms are also busy preparing for their end year exams.

Even in this time of exams, let's not push God aside to a corner, and always remember that He's on the top of our priority list. Trust in Him and He will pull you through, for exams will fade away but never His words :)

Our annual Are You Ready prayer session is here again for all you PMR-ers and SPM-ers!

This is an opportunity for the Christians of the school to come together in the School Hall and have a prayer session together. This will take place while the Muslims, Hindus and Buddhist also have their respective prayer sessions at other sections of the school too!

There will be Praise and Worship as well as a special message from an invited Pastor! It will be after school at around 1.00pm!

Welcome back to SU, CF-ers! We're entering EXAM SEASON as the SPMers go into their trials and the PMRers do heavy preparation for PMR.

In the mean time our Form 3 and 4 Revo-ers started off school by giving dates (the fruit ;) and special messages to all our beloved teachers around school. Sometimes we students are so busy complaining about our workload and studyload that we tend to forget the teachers in the background, not to mention take them for granted by not obeying deadlines or passing up homework on time.

CF goes on AS USUAL this Friday, with the exception of the Friday after that, which is a public holiday due to Malaysia Day.

Change is the constant hot-topic everywhere. Everyone talks about change. Change clothes, change hairstyle, change attitude... change is everything and everwhere! It's the only one constant thing in life that makes up life.

But what if.. instead of pondering when's the next time we change our hairstyle to get into the latest trends... what if.. we were to look at the bigger picture? What if we were to wonder..

What would it be like if we students started cleaning the school toilets for the janitor?
That's a change.

What would it be like if politicians in this country practiced clean, transparent and fair elections?
That's a change.

What would it be like if Youth from all corners of the globe, started standing up as one, in an effort to take control of their future and turn this world into a better place?

See You At The Pole is an annual event held by CF SMKSU every year. On this day, we students come together as one to pray for the different states in our country as well as the different locations around the school.

Prayer is powerful. It's not something that should be done as a routine or obligation, prayer are words of sincerity unto God, communication with Him, knowing that even with faith as ours, as small as a mustard seed, that our prayer is heard by Him and He will save Malaysia.

S.Y.A.T.P. 2011 will be held on the 27th of August (Saturday) in 3 Gamma (the class right next to the school hall) from 9.30am - 3.00pm.

There will be tons of games in store and food and beverages will be provided :)

Come and join us in showing our love and support for our school, our district, our state, our country :)

Guess what???

There's only ONE WEEK LEFT to sign up for SUBANG RALLY 2011!!

Not even ONE WEEK, but five days, because Registration ends THIS very Friday!

So if you've not signed up yet, do grab a form and your friend along too!

And since we're on the topic, let's ask ourselves:

"Why is there a Subang Rally?"

This question can relate to 'Why is there a CF Camp?', 'Why is there Recess Revolution' or any other event. While all these events have their own respective goals, ultimately all of them have one same purpose:

To bring people to Christ.

If we are really desperate to see our non-Christian friends be saved, desperate to see them experience the same joy we do through Jesus, desperate to see their lives fulfilled in Him,

We would walk over burning coal... Walk through fire... Swim through the depths of the sea...

Die.. just to see them live again.

Basically, we as Christians can't just flock together. It's like having a clump of salt on char kuey teow. It won't taste good.

But if you SPREAD the salt around.. then what would you get? A delicious dish! In other words, we need to go out there and not just keep Jesus to ourselves but tell the world, hey, do you know my friend Jesus?

That's why we encourage you all to come for CHANGE | SUBANG RALLY 2011 :) All of us have some things in our lives that we wish we could change. Family issues, school stress, friendship rifts, relationship problems, suicidal thoughts, drug addiction, smoking... and the list goes on and on.

Come and be changed to change the World :)

NATIONAL BIBLE KNOWLEDGE QUIZ 2011

So today during CF you guys all got back your POSTAL QUIZ results. Well no matter how you did, remember God. Remember we do this for Him (:

We've got another Bible Quiz coming up, this time it's BIGGER but EASIER. About a thousand people take part in this quiz because it's a National quiz.

This quiz compromises of 50 OBJECTIVE QUESTIONS ONLY (That's right, none of those nasty subjective questions!) and is allocated a time of 35 minutes.

The quiz is being held on the 13th of August 2011, and is held at SMJK Katholik, Petaling Jaya. Transport will be provided for you on that day.

- Open to all Form 1 to Form 6 students
- No entry fee at all
- All you have to read up on are:

ACTS 10 - 14 and LUKE 15 - 24

Sounds easy enough right? Not to mention the prizes:

For the top ten from EACH FORM, you will receive Certificates and trophies/medals.

So hurry up and take part in this, not just for the Certs or Trophies, but for the glory of God and knowing His word better!

Hey guys!!

Wasn't that an AWESOME, LIFE-CHANGING CAMP?? We received so many after-camp reviews from you campers and they're all over Facebook and Twitter! We the CF are just so happy to know that you all enjoyed yourselves and became closer to God over the course of the camp!

Let's not end that fire here! It's time to bring it back into our schools and show people the change that we've experienced!

Also, we'd like to give a big hand to our speaker for CF Camp 2011, Pastor Les Lee, and the powerful words of his that spoke to each and every one of us. If there are any of you who want to keep in touch with him, add him on Facebook (Lestrouble CS)

Camp Reminders!!!

Hey peeps! To all our lovely campers, do take note on some important things:

1. Bus A leaves at 8.30AM! Campers, please arrive by 8.00, for Committee, 7.30!!
2. Bus B and C, please arrive by 12.30PM sharp and register under your respective buses!
3. Remember to bring your RECEIPT and PERMISSION FORM. If you don't have one, then get it from the Secretary on the day itself and ask your parent to sign it on the spot.
4. Bring mosquito repellent!!
5. Don't forget your water-guns! Go adventurous with your water-gun choice!! :D
6. Whatever dorm or chalet you are placed in, please note that you are NOT allowed to change rooms unless you have a legitimate reason.
7. Everyone, please cooperate during registration! Come early and help to pack all the luggage into the bus. Don't just think about yourself, okay? The faster we get it done, the better!
8. Keep a good appetite for the camp food! :D

Subang Rally is a one-day event that has been going on for the past years and it's ever growing every year! It's a day where people from CFs all over from various schools around Subang come together as ONE, with ONE purpose, and that is to glorify our ONE awesome God and experience Him!

This year's theme is CHANGE. We feel that too many people today claim that they're 'Christians' just because they wear large crosses on their chests or wave around a Bible wherever they go. Being a Christian is so much more than that and we want to bring a new CHANGE to these people. To make the ones who have lost their way be found again, and to help the lost ones find their way!

Subang Rally is an amazing way to unite as the Youth of Subang with a common cause and experience God in becoming the salt and the light to a world of darkness and uh, no flavour? ;)

But first of all, we'd like to officially announce we've reached more than 130 participants for Camp so praise the Lord!! :D

Take note, CF Camp Briefing will take place on the

27th MAY, FRIDAY
CF TIME (12.30pm - 2.30pm)
BLOCK D (Top Floor)

Attendance is COMPULSORY. We will be distributing permission letters that you need to hand in to your parents, briefing about do's and dont's of Camp, what you need to bring etc.

So bring a notebook along if you find that you're not really good at remembering stuff and of course, bring YOURSELVES and any of your friends who are going for Camp too!!

Yes we know that there are some Malaysians out there who don't think much for deadlines. For those who planned to submit your forms on Friday (which is tomorrow), we regret to inform you that all forms submitted on that day will be rejected. We already announced the deadline was 25th of April, and even extended it a couple of days for the late stragglers.

Good thing is, now that Camp Registration is OFFICIALLY closed, the committee can start planning out much more for the campers so get yourself ready!

Hey CF-ers!

It's GOOD FRIDAY and this is a really awesome day in our calendar (even more than Christmas) 'coz it's the day that our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ died on that cross for us, thus washing away our sins!

If you attended CF today, we played the last 30 minutes of the Passion of Christ, and for those who attended, we hope that it wasn't just a temporary *sob sob* thing and that truly, you have been touched by what you have seen. Truly, there might be no one in these modern times that could even begin to imagine the pain that Jesus went through, carrying all the sins of the world upon his shoulders. But he did that because he LOVED US. So the only thing that's right is to give him back all that we are and all that we have.

Easter is this Sunday, and we just want to wish everybody a very Happy Easter! Rejoice in the knowledge that our Lord Jesus Christ has defeated death and risen to life!

Don't forget, Easter Rally is on the 30th of April (Saturday)! Bring yourself, your friends, and your friends' friends along!! :)

And also, CF CAMP!!! Deadline is already THIS MONDAY!! So those who are still teetering on the Yes-No side, pull yourself up to 'YES', and submit your forms and registration money by this MONDAY. You'll be in for a BLAST!! :D

A VERY important and HUGE event is coming up this year and it's.....

SUBANG RALLY 2011!!!!

Our theme for this year is:

"CHANGE"

Are YOU the Change? Are you making a Change? Are you ready for Change?? (Yeah we could go on and on like this)

ANYWAYS, before Rally itself is even commenced we need to get lots of things done, and one of them happens to be the T-SHIRT DESIGN!!

So CF is inviting its members to design a T-shirt (or flyer/badge) for Subang Rally 2011!! The info you need to include on the shirt is of course, the THEME (CHANGE) and the Bible Verse as optional (Romans 12:2)

Quiz Before Quiz!!

ATTENTION to all those who have signed up for Postal Quiz 2011!!!

First of all, thank you so much for willing to sign up for the quiz and putting yourselves into reading the Word of God! We are currently standing at approximately 110 participants, HOWEVER, registration does not end yet! You can still sign up this Friday during CF as well!

In reference to the title above, we will be having a Mock Test this Friday in preparation for the actual quiz the week after! This means that it will be sort of like an 'open' quiz, where you will all sit in groups and you are allowed to refer to your Bibles. Participants will be asked an array of Objective and Subjective questions, and your job is to show those answers up on a piece of A4 paper provided ASAP!

Yesterday night, at 10.30pm, one of our brothers in Christ left this world to join Jesus in Heaven.

His name is Siow E Kent, and even as many mourn his loss, let us also rejoice, for he and his family accepted Christ into their lives a few months before he left us forever.

We are from this world, but not of this world. E Kent, you will be sorely missed by all who love you, your family, friends and the people whom you have inspired with your incredible strength, perseverance and sheer will power.

Let us keep our dear brother in our prayers that he will find eternal peace in Heaven alongside our awesome Daddy up there, as well as for his family, friend and all others who mourn his loss, that they will find comfort in the Lord.

Prayer Items for the Week...!!!

Hey, just because we don't have prayer meetings during the holidays doesn't mean we still can't pray over the same prayer items for this week :)

1. New Pengetua - pray that God will send someone of integrity, love and kindness to lead our school, and someone who will also support the CF.
2. One of our teachers Mr. A who went through surgery on his broken arm.
3. Japan and the horrifying earth quake that struck.
4. Continue to uphold Australia and New Zealand as the people begin to patch up their lives again.

God is shaking the nations, the nations that thought they were isolated, safe, excluded - Australia, New Zealand now Japan? God is shaking us and telling us "Wake up! Wake up! Be alert for something great is coming!"

And whatever you do, do not treat the idea of quakes and floods happening all around the world lightly, just because it is not happening to us here in Malaysia. Thousands of lives lost would mean thousands of individual lives suffering, each going through their own pain, torture and loss of loved ones.

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come." (NIV, Mark 13:32-33)

So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him. (NIV, Matthew 24:43-44)

This seminar is organized by Youth for Christ (YFC), an organization which focuses on teaching youths creative evangelism methods and practical ideas for personal evangelism. There will be fun, exciting sessions and workshops in store for you such as making scrap book cards, post-cards, jumping clay ornaments, and a slow motion video, all part and parcel of making evangelism more creative!

Not only that, participants also get to learn how to do follow-ups with non-believers as well as learn more about God and His love for us.

The speakers are Rob George (Director of South Australia Outreach and Church Ministry) and Lim Chien Chong (National Director of Singapore Youth for Christ). They are passionate men of God who are looking to spark a fire to serve God within the Youth!

CF's annual National Bible Knowledge Postal Quiz is back! This quiz is open to all students, so that means it's open to the Non-Christians as well! It will be held on the 15th of April 2011, during CF, from 12.45pm till 2.30pm. All you have to study are the books of:

1) Genesis 15-19
2) Acts 1-9
(Good News Bible)

Passing rate is 40% and above, but even when you get say... 39% you'll still get a certificate of participation! And for those who want to go the extra mile, a certificate of distinction is awarded to those who score 80% and above!!

The paper is made up of fill-in-the-blanks questions (one word per blank) and objective questions as well (Options A, B and C only)

So we encourage all of you to come and take part!

Which is the Greater Enemy?

Satan or sin?

Many of us may answer Mr. S.A. Tan, but the real answer is sin. Satan can try all his best to tempt us to sin every day. He whispers in our ears softly that we can do this and that and God will never notice. Satan says that looking at and doing certain stuff will give us great pleasure (you know, like... eating Forbidden Fruit. . .?) and that we should always try to enjoy life the way WE want it. He tells us not to listen to God, saying that God’s trying to make our life miserable by setting so many boundaries.

But we often choose to listen to Satan, and that, is sinning against God. So the real battle now is between us and sin because it’s not Satan that separates us from God, it is sin. For example, in the book of Genesis, the devil influenced Eve to take a fruit from the tree of knowledge, saying that "You will surely not die. God knows that if you eat that fruit, you’ll be just as smart as Him and you’ll know how to differentiate good and bad." She was tempted by the devil. And she chose to disobey God by taking the fruit and later giving some of it to Adam, which was why her relationship with God was cut off. God is not a dictator, for that reason he gives us the choice to choose, and unfortunately the thing about humans is how we tend to choose what is in fact the worse for us just for a momentary pleasure.

However, by the power of Christ we can win this battle and stay away from the temptation of sinning. You'll find, though, sometimes when we have these breakthroughs, we start sharing testimonies with our friends and we think that we are forever free from sin, that we will never be tempted again. Before a week has passed, we find ourselves facing the same temptation once more. It's a never-ending battle!

The point is, we are never free from sin. And as much as we fight against it, sin will also fight back and find a way back into our hearts. According to Mark 9:43-47, "so if your hand makes you lose your faith, cut it off! It is better for you to enter life without a hand than to keep both hands and go off to hell. And if your foot makes you lose your faith, cut it off! It is better to enter life without a foot than to keep both feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye makes you lose faith, take it out! It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with only one eye than to keep both eyes and be thrown into hell.’’

What the passage means is that we have to make it harder for ourselves to sin in future. We don’t have to take it literally (otherwise a lot of us are going to be walking around limb-less), but we have to take radical actions like those said in the passage to stop ourselves from sinning. If we can’t handle this battle all by ourselves, that’s where the church and our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ come in. When we face these hardships, we need to seek spiritual guidance whether it is from our pastor, leader, friend or a family member. And don’t forget to pray to God and ask for His help and protection over you. We as Christians must do whatever it takes to not fall into sin which will eventually lead us down to where we obviously don't want to go!

It's true that the battle against sin is never-ending, and that more often than not we stumble and fall into it, we're human and we're not perfect, but God is. Don't forget God's eternal promise to you in just ten simple words -

"I Can Do All Things Through Christ Who Strengthens Me".
Philippians 4:13.

Friendship Day 2011

What is the definition of a friend?

With one, we can relate. With one, we can be totally comfortable. With one, we can be ourselves. And with one, we can share our deepest emotions, all our fears, our aspirations, our problems, and our dreams. A friend is one, who can be counted for support at all times. Who is there for us, whenever we need him/her. Who will never laugh at us, but will laugh with us. How many of us have such a friend?

Very few, doesn't it seem so? But we all need friends. We want to have someone who can be relied upon. We want someone with whom we can communicate. We want someone who is always for us. Who gives us the right guidance at all the times and on whose advise we can act. Don't we all need such a friend? Many of the married couples want desperately to develop such confidence and reliance on each other but many fail.

Who is left, but God? Whether, you are a spiritual person or not, you can always turn to God. You may deny God, but God does not do that. God never goes away from you, because you are one of his beloved creations.

Turn to God, whenever you need a friend. Tell him all that is bothering you. Talk to him sitting alone on a sea shore or in a garden. Talk to him, about your day when you go to sleep. And ask him for guidance, before beginning your day. Talk to him, before attempting anything. Tell him what you want to do and ask for help. He will help. He will always be there for you and with you. He will guide you at all the times. Never forget that a small seed grows into a big tree, but the early growth that occurs in the womb of the soil is never seen by us.

God takes care of everything at all the times. Why would he not take our care? Make friends with God. Make him your best friend. You can find God in the friends around you. Friends are a representation of God on earth, and we all need them to grow and learn in each other.

Who's Got Talent is a competition searching for hidden artistic talents in youths. There are 3 rounds in this competition.

That means that failure is not a concern for you. Your victory is secure. How could you not be courageous? :)

Giving Something Special

Christmas is the day when God sent His son Jesus down to Earth to save us. God gave us something special, someone so close to His heart, because He loves us. So now, on our part, why not we spread the love to others too whether it be our family, friends, neighbours, or even complete strangers?

There's no need to shower others with big, expensive presents to show our love. Sometimes the sentimental, original and truly heartfelt gifts are the most valuable of all, regardless whether they cost a dime. If a loved one feels upset and down, simply lending a ready ear can mean a lot to that person. While you may be under the impression you can't whip up the solution to their problems out of thin air, being the person that they can talk to is worth much more.

Sharing God's Word! The Bible is full of inspirational, motivating stories about how God performed miracles through His people, and Jesus Himself. There are endless verses we read that can be applied and help us face different challenges in life too.

The Word of God is a Person. When you read it, do you see words, or do you see Him?
Do you share words with others, or do you share God with them?

Because some wish to hear the word of God, others wish to receive it.

Time is another invaluable and untradable gift from God. So try to make a little time in your busy schedule to spend time with people who feel lonely and think that no one out there cares about them. No one can live in this world without being loved. So spend what time you have brightening up someone's day.

- (Acts 20:35) In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'

- (ROM. 12:11-13) Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Share with God's people who are in need. Practice hospitality.

Count your blessings, name them one by one, Count your blessings, see what God hath done!

How often have we heard that quote? To count our blessings, not our curses. But why must we be proven time and time again instead by the quote:

"You never really realize how much you love someone until they're gone."

Just by looking around you you're going to 'see what God hath done'. The sibling who just walked past you. He or she can drive you up the wall sometimes, but you know you love them. Cuddle up into your comfortable bed, and realize that millions of other people around the world are rotting on the cold streets. Every day, make it a habit to thank God the moment you start the day. Thank God for your blessings than complain to Him about your curses. We should really be grateful for these blessings.

We Christians are to love all year round, and setting apart this Christmas season is an extra special time and opportunity to share our blessings with others. That's what brings the greatest joy in giving.

The True Meaning of Christmas

Many times when we think of Christmas, the first thing that pops into our head is...

Presents!

Santa Claus!

Snow!

A sparkling Christmas tree!

We're less likely to visualize a little baby in a manger underneath a bright, shining star. Less likely to remember the birth of our Saviour.

The historic record of the birth of Christ can be found in Matthew 1:18-25 and Luke 2:1-20. Unlike any other baby, the one born that night in Bethlehem was unique in all of the course of history. He was not created by a human father and mother. He had a heavenly pre-existence (John 1:1-3, 14). He is God, the Son — Creator of the Universe (Philippians 2:5-11). And he came down to Earth in humanly form.

Now let's scratch our heads and wonder: Why would God do such a thing? Why would he come as a baby, instead of immediately appearing in all his power and majesty? Why make himself a true man and live among us, when he already knows full well how terribly he would be treated?

It was LOVE! ♥ It was necessary, if you are to be saved!

Of course, much of the very popularity of Christmas nowadays, especially in the West, is due to the commercial promotion of the holiday. Christmas has become a marketing opportunity to hold Mega-sales and rake in the customers. Coax people into getting into the 'holiday' spirit by buying expensive watches and jewelry for loved ones. People feel that it's not Christmas unless their homes are decorated with Christmas trees, lights and ornaments and there's a delicious smell of roasting turkey wafting from the oven. It's all very well to do this in the cheerful spirit of the season, but do we stress and worry ourselves out so much over all these petty, superficial little details that we fail to see the big picture? The reason why Christmas even exists?

As for the commercialization of Christmas, is that honoring God? Many a time advertisements choose to replace the word 'Christmas' with 'Xmas' or 'Holiday Season' in order to draw attention away from the truth that is Christmas at all. And what will be the price if we sell out our society and souls and forget the one who came to earth to live and die for us?

You see, the real reason for Christmas is to celebrate and remember the birth of God in the flesh, our Messiah, our Saviour - Jesus Christ. He is the true meaning of Christmas! All the values we learn about giving, sharing and loving one another - these are things that we should be doing all year round, not just during a certain season.

These are things that we do because We Love Jesus!

So spend this wonderful season remembering our Christ Saviour's great love to us. The Saviour who was born in a forlorn little manger to show us how humble He was willing to be for us.

The Tale of the Three Trees

This is the story about 3 young trees living in a forest. Each of them held a dream in their heart about what they wanted to be when they grew up. The first tree said, "I want to be crafted into a treasure chest, keeping the most precious of treasures. Storing beautiful, glittering gems, jewels and gold!"

The second tree said, ‘’I want to become a great and mighty boat. I will carry kings and queens over huge seas and fend off mighty waves!’’

The third one said, ‘’When I grow up, I want to be a tall, magnificent and beautiful tree. People who see me will awe at the strength of my branches and the lush green of my leaves - the beautiful work of God. And whoever who looks up at me will see the skies of heaven and think of God's greatness.’’

So time passed by unnoticed, and one fine day, three strong lumberjacks came to the forest and chopped down the 3 trees. The first two trees were excited about finally achieving their dreams, while the third tree became sad because it knew now it could never achieve its dream.

However, the first tree wasn’t made into a treasure chest, but into a feed box for animals. The second tree into a small boat for catching fish. And the third was sawed into long beams, stored somewhere dark and forgotten. They could no longer become what they wanted to be and lost hope in their dreams, accepting cruel fate.

Then one night, a star in the dark sky shone brightly on the first tree, the feedbox. It was used as a cradle to hold a beautiful little baby. It felt proud and happy because it realized that the baby it was holding, Lord Jesus, was the greatest and most precious treasure of all.

The second tree, now a boat, was out to sea when a dreaded storm came. Strong waves started beating against it, endangering the lives of the people on it. Suddenly a man awoke, stood up and commanded the seas to be still, and they did. Suddenly, the boat realized that it must be in the presence of the King of kings, one who controls the storms and has power over the seas.

The third was made into a large cross. Jesus was crucified on it and died there. Everyone saw that the Saviour of the world had died for them upon that very tree. And every time people looked at or thought of the tree, they would think of God. Finally, the tree realized, it had truly achieved it's dream and more, for not only did people think of God when they laid eyes upon the tree, they also remembered God's greatest sacrifice for them all.

God never forgot the three Trees’ dreams, even when the three Trees did. He had a much better plan ahead for them. His plans are always the best. So we need to constantly put our faith in Him and He will lead us through the way He knows is best for us, even if we may not think so at first, because He loves us, he loves us so much that He was willing to die on that tree for us.

None of the SPM students need reminding that their SPM Exams are just around the corner. It's a major exam and a lot of you must be feeling anxious and frustrated.

In the midst of all these exams, never forget what God promises for you. Understandably, it is easy to lose sight of God for a period of time because you're so weighed down by pressure from exams and studying and whatnot. Keep in mind though, God never loses sight of you. He is just waiting to help you, waiting for you to turn around and ask.

Here are just some Bible Verses to give you encouragement and strength for the upcoming exams. Keep these words from God in your heart, and you will do your very best in the exams.

1. Renew Your Strength...
* But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
-Isaiah 40:31

2. Be Not Dismayed...
* So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
-Isaiah 41:10

3. He Will Sustain You...
* Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. -Psalm 55:22

4. Do Not Let Your Heart be Troubled...
* Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
-John 14:27

And finally...

5. The Divine Plan
* For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
-Jeremiah 29:11

For these upcoming exams, do not under any circumstances take your papers for granted. Don't forget to pray before every paper, and never have thoughts that you will 'fail' after that! (Otherwise it would just be contradicting your prayer wouldn't it?)

9 Fruits of the Holy Spirit

''But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.'' (Galatians 5:22-23)

Each aspect of the "fruit" listed here is simply a reflection of God's character reproduced in us by His Spirit. Each person in the Spirit has the fruit differently, and each fruit has a different shape in each person -but all the spiritual fruits will show themselves in each Christian as he or she goes deeper into their walk with the Spirit.

We all know that developing the fruit of the Spirit takes diligence and determination. So many times it seems that a tiny incident can take us from the love walk. When this happens it seems that we can literally see the fruit of peace, gentleness, long suffering (patience) just leaving us.

We must be in close intimate fellowship with God everyday, being obedient to the voice of the Holy Spirit and following His lead. If we are filled with the Holy Spirit then we have the ability to walk in love, joy, peace, long suffering, gentleness and faith. If the Holy Spirit is in us, then His fruit is there also.

Now's the time for each of us to begin working on developing the Fruit of the Spirit in our lives. It may not be easy at first, but how wonderful the growth looks. We can do it! We can walk in the fruit of the Spirit and be beautiful branches on the vine!

Which Seed are You?

In our daily walk with God, one thing that can never be avoided is the obstacles that spring up along the way. Ten percent of life is made up of things and incidents we cannot control, whilst the other ninety percent is how we react to them. This is what determines who we become and why we're so different from each other. Hence how someone reacts to an obstacle in their way determines who they become - do I emerge the stronger or the weaker through this?

In Jesus' parable of the Sower and the Seed, he speaks about a sower, who represents God, dropping seeds over four types of land - pathways, rocky ground, thorn plants and good soil. The seeds that fell along the different types of land produced different results.

The ones that fell along the pathway were stepped on or gobbled up by hungry birds. This stood for those who heard God's word, but allowed the devil to come and blacken their hearts in order to keep them from believing and being saved.

The seeds that fell onto rocky ground sprouted, true, but very quickly they dried up and died because there was no moisture in the ground to help them grow. In the same way, this stands for the people who have heard God's word and they receive it gladly at first, singing praises and jumping and dancing. But when a time for testing of their faith comes, they cripple and fall.

Then we have the seeds that fell amongst the thorns. While the seeds were able to sprout and grow, they grew alongside the sharp thorns and eventually were choked up by them from all directions. What this means is that there are people who have heard the Word, but they are far too distracted by the things of this world and therefore end up choking themselves. Hence their fruit will never ripen.

Finally we have the seeds that fall onto good, healthy, brown, moist soil. The seeds of course grow up into beautiful tall healthy plants, bearing good fruit. Jesus explains that this stands for people who have heard God's word, not only receive it gladly, but retain it with good and obedient hearts. Though tests or trials are flung at them, they persist and preservere until they bear good, tasty fruit.

Now comes the time for you as a Christian to do a reflection and really ask yourself:

Am I the seed that falls along the path, letting the devil take control of me and everything I do?

Am I the seed that falls on rocky ground, when I'm given the opportunity to hear God's word, but I am like a 'Convenient Christian' and only praise Him when things are comfortable and going well and all right for me?

Am I the seed that even falls amongst the thorns, distracted by things of this world like money, romance, computer games or so many other things till I forget where to look for God at all and neglect my time with him completely?

Or am I the seed that falls along the good soil, grows and flourishes into beautiful plants that bear good harvest, harvest that will feed thousands and help them to grow too?

Because it only takes one plant. . .

. . . to grow into many plants . . .

. . . and become an enormous field of good harvest and fruit.

Recalling all the way back from Day One. Walking in the CF room (back then it's the current Physics Laboratory) being welcomed by seniors. It was orientation for the Form Ones. Honestly, I was taken aback. New faces. Loud voices. Crazy atmosphere. Being pinched at the cheek. A teacher with little hair. I never thought, how at home I would feel. How much I wanted to belong in this very classroom. With this very people.

So many things I've learned in this 5 years. Values of life in its very self. There's no better place to learn. To grow. To serve. To release myself. To be among people with the same cause. To be among individuals which are precious to me. To love. To touch. To smile. To laugh. To experience. And to just become.

Ever since Day One, I made a pledge to myself. I'm not going to leave this CF family until the last of my schooling days. I never did. And I never regretted. If I could say, it was the BEST decision I ever made. No doubt. Along the way, sacrifices were made. No I didn't sell an arm to be where I am today. But decisions. I CHOSE to be who I am today. And you should too. Because what you decide to be today is who you become tomorrow.

You know the saying "You learn from your mistakes?" In a sense, it's true I don't deny it. But if you can, why not not committing the mistakes in the first place? I spend most of my time preventing myself from stumbling. Preventing myself from straying away from God. Avoiding myself from regret. Avoiding myself from wasting time being hurt and ignorant. Yes, of course there are times I fail. And yes you may say that I don't have the guts and courage to live life and to try things of this world. But I'd say, I may not, but I certainly have the guts and courage to stand up for what I believe in. And I do it by God's strength. Which is everlasting.

I began the year clueless. Just before 2010, I thought I knew. I thought I had what it takes. I thought I was able. I thought I knew everything's that coming. I thought everything would fall into place like it should be. I thought wrong. But I just believe. And I'm still believing. I didn't have a way around a thunderstorm, but I learned how to dance in the rain. And what doesn't kill me just makes me stronger. I wasn't the best cf president around, but I'm extremely proud to be one in Subang Utama. Because through my imperfection, God is made perfect.

You guys need to know. How to appreciate the CF. And never take any of it for granted. We are truly blessed to have what we have. The attendance. The technical equipment (YEAH ESPECIALLY THIS). The fact that we even have a sound system to rent to other societies. The experience passed down by seniors. The support by the school. And most of all the most devoted and dedicated CF Teacher Advisor around. So many things are being taken for granted. Not every CF have what we have. And they'd trade it with us anytime. And they have the drive to be better. Something we all have to learn.

Nevertheless with a heavy heart I will leave the CF. And move on to a new chapter. But before I do, I urge you especially the younger ones to never lose hope! Keep pressing on and don't give up on Jesus! Take my word that He'll bring you to places you'll never thought you'll ever do. And in trying times, He'll be that shelter where you can find peace and comfort. Don't prefer to be anywhere else but within His arms. He's just so gracious. Cause whenever you walk or run miles and miles away from Him, just take a step back. And He'll be there.

Today we've been blessed again by the ministry of Pastor Daniel Singh. He shared on the book of Daniel. How Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego refused to eat the royal food and wine, instead they only took water and vegetables for ten days. In return, they look healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food.

They chose to HONOUR God.

All of us should follow their examples and even in the midst of exams, honour God.

We will not neglect church.

We will not neglect CF.

We will not neglect our time alone with God.

REVO GARDEN!!

Hey guys, did you hear about the latest thing that's happening in our school?

A Revo Garden is gonna be built & given to our school all done by Recess Revo!

It's gonna be behind Block B and next to the big hall!

WHAT IS THIS REVO GARDEN ALL ABOUT?

1.1 Transformation

Just as the new or upgraded Revo Garden would be transformed from a “deserted” or “barren” place into a beautiful, vibrant and lively garden, it signifies our desire to also “transform” the school into a better and admirable place – not just physically, but socially as well.

1.2 Nurture

Just as the Revo Garden needs to be cared for and nurtured by fertilizing, watering, etc., we intend to also “nurture” our school by “watering” it with our care, “sowing” our love in action with kindness, good deeds, and prayer, etc., so that our school can truly become a better place.

1.3 Continuity

Once the Revo Garden is established, we will have something physical to pass on to the next generation of students from the “Recess Revolution” movement, and in partnership with the Christian Fellowship of this school, to continue to care for and nurture. We will be able to tell them, “Now this is YOUR garden. Take care of it.” With something physical to pass on, it symbolizes the passing on of ownership (of the school) to our juniors, so that they too can catch the spirit of loving and caring for their school. It speaks of continuity, and for the “long haul.” We understand that change is a process and it’s more important how we finish, and not just how we started.

1.4 Monument

The Revo Garden is also a “monument” that speaks of a “movement.” A movement that stands for a “Revolution of Love.” Revolution – which means Change – that comes from and through love in action. Just like how we can continue adding to the beauty of the garden by adding more features: flowers, fountain, fish (in a pond), etc… it sends the message that this is a movement that can carry on and on, until we truly see the change we dream of seeing in our school – at every level – for every person!

The landscape of the garden is gonna look something like this. But of course since we're gonna be giving this to our school for free, we need to raise funds for it and the total funds that we require are...

Passion Week

"Palm Sunday is a Christian moveable feast that always falls on the Sunday before Easter Sunday. The feast commemorates an event mentioned by all four Canonical Gospels (Mark 11:1-11, Matthew 21:1-11, Luke 19:28-44, and John 12:12-19): the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem in the days before his Passion. It is also called Passion Sunday or Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion."

Every year we celebrate Easter, a time to reflect and remember the Lord Jesus Christ's death on the cross for us. Without Jesus our world will never be the same, without Jesus there isnt a need to have CF, without Jesus we wont know how to count which year it is even. Jesus is truly the center of our lives.

Ever heard of the NECF christian? nope I am not talking about being a member of the National Evengelical Christian Fellowship, I'm talking about New year, Easter, Christmas, Funeral Christian. Its those who only attend church 4 times a year, are we one of those? Do your parents attend church regularly? well if they dont, why dont you be the one who will lead them, to greater joy and fullness of life?

CF wont be doing our Rally this year, but look out for the blood donation drive! its going to be awesome, Jesus gave us His all, even His blood, its time we give ours hahaha literally give our blood to those who needs it!

As time flies and we're about to meet the month of April, we're going to have our last meeting in the month of March this coming Friday!

We're sorry to announce that there will be NO CF MEETING this coming Friday.. *aww* :(

Instead, please still do come on Friday for school (Do not skip school!) because a special speaker & also a friend of CF will be coming early morning to give tutorials regarding about Moral Education! So do come and give support to our 'friend'!

Also, Recess Revo will be held during recess time as well on Friday! We'll be doing some major cleaning in the Science Labs in our school before holiday week comes. Want to participate? Look for Eilene Ling from 5 Omega and say 'I want to participate in Recess Revo!'
